HELP: Transnote recovery CDs ? and Vista on the Transnote

#1 Post by jflores » Thu Mar 15, 2007 9:59 pm

Hi,

I was experimenting some operating system installs recently on my Transnote (Win2000, XP and Vista) and have tried to revert to the original preload (Win2000). BUT no way to find my original preload CDs. Does anyone in this forum have maybe the french CDs ? that would be great :)

By the way, Vista does run on the Transnote - albeit a bit slow - but suitable for non-intensive multitasking - here is what I found out, in case anyone wants to go ahead :

- Vista will not let itself install directly on the Transnote (it checks for 800mhz processor and 512mb RAM), but I installed it on another Thinkpad (a R31) and simply swapped the disks.
- The surprise was to notice the touch screen works ! (with the win2K driver).
- Windows Update even shows a "PM device" as downloadable.
- The fliptouch control panel works, but shows the same limitations as on XP (crashes with some controls)
- The sound chip has been impossible (yet) to get recognized, I have found no suitable Crystal CS4281 drivers, the device shows as having no free resources (and stopping parallel, infrared and serial didn't help).
- I have not yet tried to make the Thinkscribe part to work.

...it is a good idea to max the RAM to 320MB and put a speedy hard disk (7200rpm 60gb is great)

Thanks for any help !
Joscelyn
