Problem of changing a new hard drive
Problem of changing a new hard drive
I plan to upgrade the hard drive of my T60, but how can I immigrate the data in the hidden partition to the new hard drive and create a new hidden partition on my new hard drive?? Thanks
Use Norton ghost or Acronis true image to clone your drive. Search for these two in the forum, there is a lot of info regarding this.
Now: T60 2613-EKU | T23 2647-9NU | 600X 2645-9FU | HP 100LX
Past: X31 2673-Y13 | T41 2374-3HU | T22 2647-AEU

if you make the recovery cd/dvds, you can just load in your new hdd, pop in your recovery disc, and then "recover my hdd to original factory specs". If you stop the recovery setup just after it loads up the service partition, you can re-recover you hard drive, only this time you can do a custom factory install, which I like better. But the full factory recovery is very nice and leaves your computer factory fresh ready to use setup!
The Product Recovery Discs will restore the original Factory Contents to a new, clean, unpartitioned hard drive. If the drive was previously used in another laptop, you may have to do a full erase of the hard drive using a special utility before the Product Recovery Disks will work. When you use the Product Recovery Discs, make sure the security settiing in the BIOS for the Predesktop Area is set to Normal.
When you use the Product Recovery Discs, the FAT32 service partitiion will be created in addition to the C: Windows partition. The service partiton is created first, then the product recovery takes place while booted into the service partition. When using these discs, you have to tell Rescue and Recovery to Restore Factory Contents twice for the procedure to complete.
EDIT: I forgot to add that it makes no difference if the new drive is a different size than the old one when using the Product Recovery Disc set.
