Wireless connection disconnects and reconnects frequently

#1 Post by Zirynx » Sun Mar 18, 2007 3:15 am

I try to keep my parents' T41 up to date whenever I visit however, all attempts to update the wireless driver for the builtin Intel 2100B wireless adapter beyond 1.2.3.14 have resulted in an unreliable wireless connection which disconnects and reconnects frequently, perhaps every 5 to 10 seconds.

I have tried all drivers since 1.2.3.14 with the same results each time. On each occasion, I can rollback the driver to 1.2.3.14 and reliablity is restored, with no disconnects whatsoever.

I have successfully updated through several versions of AC which is at the latest version, 4.23

I have on several previous occasions completely removed AC and all profiles, before removing the previous wireless adapter driver and installing the new driver, followed by AC, but this makes no difference.

In short, 1.2.3.14 is the last wireless driver which yields a reliable wireless connection, with any version of AC. Anything later than 1.2.3.14 makes the connection very unreliable.

Anyone else ever had this problem or know of a fix? So far, I've been content for the driver to remain at 1.2.3.14 in the hope that a subsequent driver would work okay however, I'm concerned that this will not be possible infinitum, and something may have to change.

As ever, many thanks in advance for any help, insight or answers!
