#1 Post by kingman99 » Sun Mar 18, 2007 10:15 am

Hi

I have an IBM 600x that l bought from an IBM reseller approx 3/4 yrs ago with a COA and now that l have to buy a new hard drive
what do l do? Can l obtain a CD from Lenovo? I believe the reseller has either changed their name or went out of business.

I have the COA sticker on the bottom with the product key and etc.

What can l do?

Thanks

Alan

What you need are recovery cd's. As does this guy:

You should add to his thread. Someone is likely to have them.

Ha ha... I'm that guy! I didn't get a response to my post and I'm still looking for those recovery CD's.

FYI... if you can find OEM Windows 2000 Pro media, you can do a fresh install with the license key attached to the unit. I had retail media from a legally purchased retail copy and it didn't work. What a waste of time... argh.

There's ways around it if you search google, but I'm pretty sure that violates an end-user agreement of some type.

You may be able to find someone here with the 2000 CD.
The issue is to always have some type of back up for a catastrophic failure.

I have Win2K OEM and retail CDs. They are SP1, but you can download the updates. PM me if you are interested as I can upload to a server or send you a CD.
