Tweaking Default Display Brightness Via FN + Home/End Keys

#1 Post by atomMan » Sun Mar 18, 2007 11:54 am

When you use the FN + Home/End keys to adjust display brightness, there's 8 possible steps. Can more be added? Or can the existing steps be tweaked?

I looked a little through the registry and couldn't find anything. What i'm trying to do is add more steps on the darkening side for batt operation.

If you have something like ATI controller, you can tweak brightness through that. Thats what I do

The Fn key combinations to tweak the screen brightness work on the hardware level, so unless there are more options in the BIOS, there isn't much you can do. However, is the brightness on battery set to "Normal", rather than "High"? That's one way to make it darker.

I'm not sure that lowering the brightness using software will help much, because it doesn't affect the backlight.

Ah, OK. It must be a hardware and software solution, because you need s/w to read the keys. Thanks for the info.
