Z61t SD reader not working on Vista

#1 Post by Cloud02 » Thu Mar 22, 2007 5:31 am

Well i installed Vista on my Z61t but my problem is that the SD reader doesn't work.
Anyone who has similar problems and perhaps a solution?

Updating your Vista will solve the problem.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.

Find the TI Multicard Reader driver on the Lenovo download site and install it.

The file name is 7gcs54ww.exe

That fixed an exclamation point for the "Mass Storage" device on mine and should get yours going.

System Update 3 didn't install this driver like you would think it should have.

Just to save people some time:

The driver name is actually 7gsx54ww

And can be found at the Lenovo site here.

Also referred to in this thread.

.
I am continually hearing question marks about the Vista (Sight) OS. Is there anything that is redeemable about that new platform.?
The more i hear - the more i think i'll stick to eXPerience.
How possibly can GatesWare inc improve on something that has had the last 6-years of use thrown at it.
An illegal copy of XP runs smoother than Vista by the sounds of it.! Not that i'd recommend chasing down illegal S/W.
___

Did you sort it Cloud.? It sounds like you would need to dual boot a 10-gig partition with Xppro on your Z for to use the SD port - and quit a few other features.
It's possible that i'd put the Vista on a 10-Gig partition 'til their get there show together.

How can Lenovo put license on a software title that does not support the hardware device it is catered & indicated for.?

"Developers developers developers developers developers", - who said that. : P
