T-30(2366) bad screen

#1 Post by Jim Mc » Thu Mar 22, 2007 1:10 pm

Hi all, fresh newbie here. I hava T30 laptop with a bad screen. matter of fact, I have a BOATLOAD of t-30's with bad screens. Well, maybe not a BOAT, but, a large raft..well, anyway, you folks get the picture.
My boss went out and ordered a couple of replacement cables, which I went throught the trouble of installing. (man, these diagrams on the lenovo site.. sheesh). Anyway, I get said cable installed, get my machine back together...and still a bad screen. The image shows a couple of dozen lines across the bottom of the screen. nothing even remotely resemples a picture. I'm no guru, but, could you folks help a guy who is in over his head out? Thanks in advance.

You most likely have one of two problems:

The inverter needs to be replaced. (It's the small board directly under the screen)

The screen itself needs to be replaced.

You can usually get used parts for fairly cheap off ebay. If you can get used test parts (perhaps off a working one if you have one) you can test. You can also try switching just the screen (not the inverter) between two laptops that have different looking errors. If the inverter is the problem, the screen switching won't change a thin, but if the screen is the problem the errors will swap.

Truk, thanks for the reply. I'll go ahead and investigate the inverter and the screen. As these are coporate machines, I doubt my boss will want to go to ebay for parts.
