You're going to need to be much more specific... what exactly did you try, and show us the commands you used, and the errors you encountered.
I am in the same boat with a 7K100. Going to play around with it more next week.

Try this: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=24515

It worked for me (7k100 80GB, T43).

First I tried to update it with the firmaware update utility from IBM website (v46). The software says that the HD is up to date and doesn't need an update.
After that I enter into dos and tried:

copy MB4IA60A.BDR MB40A60A.BDR
copy MB4IA60A.BDF MB40A60A.BDF
HFUI15.EXE OA60A MB4IA60A.BDR /F MPCA51AB.TBL
that did not work because it seems that "hfui15.exe" updates only 7K100 HD
then i tried the same code but used hfui14.exe instead. This exe file seems to update 5K100 drives but only drives model # HTS5480xxC9AT00 and my drive model is HTS541080G9AT00. It could not update the drive.
Then I tried:
HFUI14.EXE IA60A MB4IA60A.BDR /F MPCA51AB.TBL which did not work.
I then replaced "MPCA51AB.TBL" with "MPBA60ab.TBL" which did not work either (error says that drive cannot be flashed).
I also tried hfui16.exe but that one did not start; it just froze at the command prompt.

So, can u guys help me? I know I am probably doing something wrong, but I cannot figure out it is.
Thanks

It seems like this method only works on 7K100 hard drive with the bios version below 1.29. I've tried this for several times on my T43p, it won't work with bios 1.29

Same issue here on a 60GB 7K100. Can anyone else confirm this?
