Currently there are some users out there (me too) which are havng crashes of access connectoins on creating new profiles.

I noticed that the crash only occurs if you select "use best available connection" on creating a new profile. The only way round it is to let ac set up your profile after searching wlans from the wizard and after you confirm it to save this profile edit it.

Sigh! After some windows update and some application, can't further add any addtional profile, AC will just stop responding. If anyone have the same scenario please kindly advice on workaround. 100 thanks...

Same problem here on my T60, contacted support on this one ...

By the way, I had this error "out of the box", with no updates applied to the pre-installed OS, so I think it's easily reproduceable.

When I have a solution, I'll post it here.

I called tech support b4, what they said is they isnt any specific design or really stable drivers/apps for Vista, the best is to use XP SP2 for the time being and at least wait for another quater. :(

I got a reply, support said the same things that can be read on Access Connections for Vista download page, that is to install before AC these packages :

- Lenovo System Interface driver
- HotKey driver
- Power Management driver version 1.41

Already did these steps, same error.

Vista came pre-installed on my Thinkpad, so I don't think reverting to XP SP2 is a good answer from Lenovo support service. Anyway I guess Lenovo is going to release an update to Access Connections for Vista soon, because the problem is obvious and easily reproduceable.

I used a debugger to discover a bit more on the error, and the GUI program is crashing on a call to ntdll.dll module, which is a system module, so the issue should not be imputable to a third party driver / application.

Running in compatibility mode with Administrative privileges did not help.

I'm working on it, I'll post any progress.

THE SOLUTION

#9 Post by adam1172 » Thu Mar 29, 2007 7:26 pm

I have been living with this problem ever since I upgraded to Vista. I just found a newer version of Access Connections on Lenovo's web site.

It is version 4.31b and actually shows a release date of March 30, 2007.

Here is the link:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... 67283.html

When I installed this version, all of the problems I was having with Access Connections went away.

YAAAAYYYYYY!!!

Wow... I reverted to XP SP2

But VISTA still have tons of software capability problems, I have tried times in Z60T, T43, X60.... Forget it, I think I will wait for another 6 months... :(

This also fixed (as mentioned in release notes) the problem I was suffering from, Wireless adpaters not saving the performance settings. Now I'm a happy camper again :)

#14 Post by effe1968 » Tue Apr 17, 2007 11:22 am

hi... Francesco from Italy...
On my t60 (2007-fxg) a lot of crashes with 4.31b access connections... not with 4.31... it's a mistery... I think a conflict... with wan vodafone driver after firmware upgrade...
Sometimes BSOD on my T60 with vista installed... with most recent drivers installed...

Windows Vista can manage your wireless connections just fine. If you remove Access Connection you may possibly be satified with the results...this includes faster connection, and higher download speed.

Others are very satisfied with AC...I could not resolve my problems on a Z61t with Vista.

You might look at a somewhat related issue and solution at:
