T42 model 2373-3UU question

#1 Post by Mofo Jones » Sun Sep 26, 2004 10:24 pm

First..hi all..new member here, looking at buying a TP for use in law school. (I'm a 1L at McGeorge).

I was taking a look at what Bill has for sale, liked the price on the T42 2373-3UU. I noticed something in the configuration that I'm confused about: The model has both an IBM 802.11a/b/g wireless(MPCI) and Bluetooth/Modem(CDC). Does this mean that the computer only has Bluetooth wireless, or that it has the normal expected wi-fi capabilities and also has Bluetooth? Also, since the TP doesn't have an Intel card in it, I know it's not technically a "Centrino". Does that matter? Can one of you multiple TP owners on here clarify this for me? :)

I'm not that concerned with having the Bluetooth..I'm probably never going to use it. But, if that is the only way of accessing the web, I need to choose a different model. Other than that, I like the specs and the 3 yr warranty and would be contacting Bill to make a purchase PDQ (provided that the hurricanes haven't put Florida completely out of commission)

Thanks in advance!!

It has both WiFi and bluetooth. Both can be used at the same time.

Centrino means intel WiFi card. IBM a/b/g means Atheros WiFi card. No it does not matter. Some people like one better than the other.

Bump

Does anybody else have an opinion on this? The 2373-3UU is $2099 here from Bill. Is that a decent price?
