Does "$399" include shipping? If it does, it's a decent deal. If it doesn't, tell us how much shipping is. On eBay, shipping charges for laptops are often ridiculous.

Missed again on "Buy it Now"
This is the second time in as many days that l missed out on a Buy It Now on Ebay. And these were new listings. The best deals seem to be private sellers with a history of at least 50 transactions with 100% approval. But by the time l check out the seller and check out what he has not to mention waiting for the seller to answer a couple of simple questions like the condition of the LCD it's gone.
I will try again. I would buy from some of the resellers but they are getting crazy with the handling and shipping ($39). And that is for UPS ground which costs approx $12

Your 100% correct
Hi
Being a novice l am forced to think twice, the first T40 l won on ebay had bad pixels so l had to send it back. And l tried everything to fix them. They weren't dead just had a bright white cast the size of pea but there were 6 of them.
That's why l'm concerned.

Re: Your 100% correct
If the white marks appear to be fuzzy spots with no distinct edge to them (i.e., not a sharp cutoff from white to black) and the underlaying image is still visible, then what you were looking at are called "pressure marks". Fairly common on older systems as several of my LCDs have them. I consider them to be a cosmetic problem as the pixels in those locations will normally still work properly.kingman99 wrote:They weren't dead just had a bright white cast the size of pea but there were 6 of them.
P.S. Please contact BillMorrow and talk to him about correcting your e-mail address as it appears he is getting messages that you have an invalid address.

Finally got my T40 !!!!
Hi
I was tired of the bidding wars and found a seller that sounded ok. Well that is my opinion and he answered every one of my questions very fast. There was another T40 that had more and cost less ($38) but he didn't answer any of my questions regarding a spot on his picture of the LCD. I later realized after checking the completed auctions that he used the same ppic of the LCD over and over again and he lived in Bklyn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Alan
PS l should have it by next wed because it's shipping on monday.
Never was looking to get a steal all l ever want is a fair deal. And let the steals stay with the people who can't admit to the truth or just can't afford them. I have nobody to impress but myself.

Re: Finally got my T40 !!!!
So.. How do you like your purchase? What model xxxx-xxx of the T40 did you get? I've recently purchased a T40p on eBay.. but after reading the thread on how the GPU can come loose on T4x's, I'm worried.kingman99 wrote: I was tired of the bidding wars and found a seller that sounded ok.

T40 on ebay
Hi
So far l'm happy and l'm not concerned with anything falling apart.
But l will say my 600x is more solid in my humble opinion.
The only thing that l realized afterwards is that a brand new Acer with all of the goodies is only about $150 more.
good luck

Glad to hear that your T40 is doing well. But what specific model do you have? A brand new Acer was tempting for me too. But here in Canada they're not much of a deal unless they are on sale or heavily discounted with rebates. However, I decided to stick with T40 primarily because I thought I was buying quality and durabilty. The thin and light case design was also a consideration for me. I also wanted USB 2.0 ports. However, now I'm worried that my T40p might have the mobo/GPU flexing problem that was heavily discussed in this forum. The T40p is my first laptop. I was quite impressed with a T20, T21 and T30 that I had the privilege to borrow occasionally. I didn't think that I could go wrong with a T4x. But now I'm worried.
