Trying to use a Fingerprint Reader Keyboard with my T23
Hey, I'm actually typing on the keyboard right now, and it's really nice!!! I unstalled the drivers from the cd, rebooted, and set it all up. Now I'm trying to use the fingerprint reader to set up my windows password, and it's telling me that it isn't ready, or isn't connected.......
Is the T23 too old to work with it, or do i not have the most recent driver installed, or am I just not doing somehting right?
BTW, the part number on the keyboard is 89p9000,
and the Model number is KUF0452

That sucks. I figured that if it came as a usb device, and a cd to install the driver, then it would work. It doesn't make much sense to sell a USB fingerprint reader if it only works on computers that have one integrated in them. The only requirements I saw that the computer needed to have was Win 2000 or higher.
Dang.
Dang.

Well now that you have said it was a USB device, it might work, but I never had a keyboard with a fingerprint reader. I have heard that a lot of the keyboards that have fingerprint readers don;t work all that well, that why I have not seen any new keybaords that have that. It really makes no sense to have one if you can unplug it. Personally I would prefer smart cards over anything else. IF you can get the hardware and software to work correctly, you can save any password or access code to a smart card and keep that card with you at all times. I believe that Window XP and 2000 can support smart card logins (though I have never seen it).
I have finally rejoined the dark side.

USB1.1 as in the T23 might not support your undoubtedly USB2 reader.
And as mentioned, why bother with a removable security?

I planned on using it in a dorm room setting. I have a docking station set up, and i was gonna lock it to the desk, and keep the T23 locked in the dock. I figure that if I set it up to only logon with a fingerprint, then even if someone unplugs the keyboard then they won't be able to get on my computer. I feel like abandoning this for now though, because i can't figure out if my t23 has a security chip, or that embedded security thing... I don't know. I couldn't find anywhere a list of models whith thier features, and the list i found didn't have a 2648-NU1 on it, so I don't know if it does.

to my knowledge this is not possible in windows as there is always a password override for the finger print scanner. Althougth there may be software that allows thisAndersonjoe711 wrote: I figure that if I set it up to only logon with a fingerprint, then even if someone unplugs the keyboard then they won't be able to get on my computer.
i imagine the best bet if you really need a finger print scanner is to buy a laptop with an integrated solution, like a thinkpad R60 (althougth these are expensive). i know the R60 even allows you to use the finger print reader as a bios password (althougth i have never tried this myself)

After using the Rescue and recovery, and putting the hidden partition back on, and installing clinet securtiy, and the fingerprint software, my T23 is finally accepting the fact that there's a fingerprint reader plugged into it. and it's actually reading my fingerprints. Now I just gotta get it to actually accept it.

Did you ever register ("record") your fingerprints with the CSS/Fingerprint Reader software?Andersonjoe711 wrote:After using the Rescue and recovery, and putting the hidden partition back on, and installing clinet securtiy, and the fingerprint software, my T23 is finally accepting the fact that there's a fingerprint reader plugged into it. and it's actually reading my fingerprints. No, every time i tried to do it it would tell me i was swiping too fast, or my fingerprint was misaligned. I just gave up. I think it may have been because i was running it through a USB 1.0 port, but everything else was working fine.
