PCMCIA Type I and II?

#1 Post by Jonj1611 » Tue Mar 27, 2007 3:49 am

Hi,

I have an IBM 560e, now it says it take PCMCIA I and II cards but I have a wireless Cardbus card which doesn't seem to fit in, will the 560e take cardbus cards?

I mean technically will they work? If they will it might be the slots are slightly to small for the card, I could refine the card down a little, I can see the left notch is the one that is slightly too large, but I wouldn't do that unless I was certain that the unit would accept those cards.

Thanks
Jon

According to twbook.pdf it seems you are out of luck. 560 series didn't adapt cardbus until 560X.

Ah, thats a shame, ok, I guess the next question should be, does anyone know if anyone makes PCMCIA type I and II wireless cards that would work in the machine?

Thanks again

What you are looking for is a 16-bit wireless card. You can use keywords "16-bit wireless pcmcia" search online. There are a couple of those cards on zBay and you can expand your search from there by using the idividual model number.

Cool, I will check it out, basically only looking for something that I can plug into it, and chat in the garden in the summer :)

Thanks for the help

The old silver or gold Lucent Orinoco cards are excellent and should work for you. I have used a gold card with a 365X w/o problems.
