I have a T21 and T22 both have the same problem. With battery in the battery light is green. Push power on and battery light flashes off and HDD light flashes on for less than a second. That’s it just turns back off.
Have removed and or swapped cmos, cdrw-dvd, battery, HDD and keyboard.
What on the mother board is causing this???
Any help would be appreciated.
T2X power on problem.

A belated "Welcome to thinkpads.com"!
I also have a T21 and T22 with this problem. The 21 has never turned on (I received it that way), while the 22 has turned on several times. If you use the words "blink" and "death" to search, you'll find several threads where I (and others) have told their stories.
Basically what happens is that sometimes the laptop powers up and works normally. Other times, all you get is the HD light blinking once when you push the power button. I'm convinced that there's a broken connection on the motherboard but I have not found it yet. As tfflivemb2 suggests, the only "fix" so far has been to replace the motherboard.
There has been some reports that removing all power from the laptop (pull the battery and disconnect the AC adapter) for a couple of days can sometimes help with getting the system to power up. That has worked for the T22 a couple of times. Other suggestions are to remove the battery and press the power button 20-30 times and then hold it down for 20-30 seconds. That has never worked for me.
