IE7 error

#1 Post by johnny0001 » Tue Mar 27, 2007 5:32 pm

Hi, just recently I experienced an IE7 crash and by looking at the error message, it seems that one of the ThinkVantage software is causing it.

Anyone experience this problem or know how to fix this?

Johnny,

Believe it or not IE7 is still in its BETA phases and still has bugs even on PCs. as of yet there are not alot of updates for this software and the best you can do is send this up to microsoft for debugging.

Being a tester for microsoft I can tell you that notebooks are just starting to become a major part of the sofware programing. Prior to W2K and XP there was basically little or no support for notebooks in Windows vocabulary.

To the bestof my knowledge the .dll referance is a .dll that can be turned off inside of IE. your IE just won't auto fill passwords for you.

Hope this is at least something knowledgable to help you out. If in doubt just wait for a patch in the coming months.

Hi,

I was experiencing that error every single day multiple times(note that I have a bad habit to open to many tabs inside the browser). It was really painfull since I was often in the middle of research or/and work. Btw, I really like tabs inside the browser and as a consequence I switched to opera.

Regards

I have not encountered this problem but you should be able to go to tools in internet explorer and then manage add-ons, enable or disable add-ons then you should be able to find it. It will be seen on the far right of this screen under the file category. You may have to change where it says show to find it as it may not be currently running when you check.

It is made by Lenovo and from the description provided it sounds like something that Lenovo started putting on some of its thinkpads to manage passwords. I did a search on my computer and did not find it anywhere either under add-ons or in a full computer search.

You can then disable it as this shouldn't hurt anything as it is only for password management. You could probably also go to start search then find the file and delete it if you want as it should not be required. Probably better to disable it first though if possible.

I just searched up on this a little bit more and would recommend not deleting this dll because it may have something to do with fingerprint reader if your computer is so equipped and other security programs. Ill try and find a little bit more to find out for sure.

Hopefully this helps

I HIGHLY recommend not deleting that file. As I posted earlier it is a .dll that handles password security. If this file is deleted it could potentialy make your computer vulnerable to worms or hackers and corresponds with your firewall security in XP and several other programs such as on and off board biometrics if you have it.

Disabling auto complete however will keep the dll without deleting it and not compromise your notebook.

Or you can do as lot of others do....wait for a more stable release of the browser...

Just two more cents....
