T60 and WLan power saving problem
T60 and WLan power saving problem
I have a strange problem. No matter what I do, no matter where i put the wireless power saving-option to "Maximum performance" it always reverts to "Maximum Power Saving". Where should I put it?
Setup is a T60 8744-HDG with "Intel Pro/Wireless 3945ABG" and it works fine, except for this annoyance.
I'm using ThinkVantage Access connection for it's great capability to choose networks. (I'm using 6 different networks, usually 3-4 per day)
Any hint's?
PS: Uups, forgot to mention: Win Vista Business + Access Connections 4

I had the same problem on my T60p with Vista. It was causing a reduction in throughput with wireless. What I found was that the access connections overrides and controls the power saving features of the wireless (regardless of what the power setting say they are set to).
To fix this, go into Access Connections, locations, manage profiles, edit, wireless settings, advanced configuration: settings, maximum performance. This should fix your problem.

It was at "5: Highest", nice tip tho. One of the strangest things is that there's no values in registry of this, Access Connections profiles are in "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Lenovo\Access Connections\Locations" and under profile name is a folder with "Adpt00" where all the profile-specific settings are. But I can't find any key resembling to anything power or performance-related. Could someone take a peek to Your values there? You can find my registry from that folder in HERE (gif picture)
Thanks for Your efforts in advance

I got it fixed. Since Lenovo don't offer the newest drivers I took a look to Intel's site. The version i downloaded is 11-1-0.86 from 25 february 2007 where the old one was 10.something from november 2006. I got my usual speed even when the setting is at "Maximum Power Saving". I still can't change that setting, but now it doesn't matter. I need it to be fast regardless if I'm on battery or not, now it works.
I tried also some more troubleshooting, and made a new dummy profile. This time I put the setting to "Maximum Performance" before saving the profile. After I opened the profile the setting had defaulted to "Maximum Power Saving" again. Just can't figure this one out...

This really was an Lenovo-related issue. New AccessConnection -version 4.31b fixes this issue. Now everything works. Solution was HERE.
