DVD/CDW problem

#1 Post by krosenstein » Mon Sep 27, 2004 7:35 pm

When I first received my T41, a spinning disk occasionally scraped against the inside of the DVD/CDW drive. IBM replaced the drive, which seemed to solve the problem. Well it's starting to happen again.

I know IBM will replace the drive (again), but I'm curious whether anyone else has experienced this problem.

I've had the occasional disk do this in computer drives and in home CD and DVD players. I've always attributed this to a warped/damaged disk and have been able to copy them onto a new disk. You might want to try this. Otherwise, it could be a bad spring/bb on the drive spindle (the part the disk clicks on to).

This happened to me and started to freak the sh*t out of me. I took the CD out, laid it on the table, and WOW, it was so bowed, I couldn't believe I didn't notice it before.
