#1 Post by Misiek » Wed Mar 28, 2007 4:45 pm

HEllo all,

I've deinstalled CSS, so also password manager is gone but my question is besides power on and windows login fingerprint authentification, can i use some kind of 3rd party software to manage passwords with fingerprint. I dont want to install CSS of any version.
Please advice

There is stand-alone fingerprint reader software. Please tell us which model ThinkPad you have, i.e. T60, T43, Z60m, etc.

Below is what you are looking for. Be sure to read the Installation instructions text file before installing the software.

Fingerprint Software 5.5.0.2918

EDIT: I do not have a fingerprint reader, and I do not know what all the capabilities of the above software are. I hope it provides what you need.

I wonder if the rot has already set in with Lenovo.

Please bear with me....

Normally a company starts to manufacture something and in order to grow they will try to create a product to the best of their abilities. Then once when they start to feel "comfortable" with their marketshare they'll start to cut costs (read "cut corners" or "put in something of lesser quality").

So with the latest upgrade of the fingerprint software from Lenovo for the Z61m: version 5.6 is an open source product with Lenovo's icons and it has lost it's power on / hard disk fingerprint ability. Yuk!

Moral: do not upgrade to version 5.6.

Also see my wirte up on a CPU upgrade of my Z61m in another post.
Z61m 94515CM with 2 Gb memory, T61p 6459A12 Windows 7 Prof 4 Gb memory, daughter 1: Lenovo N200, son: R61, retired:A31, 2652-M5M, A31, 2652-XKX, daugther 2: retired R60
