Help! R&R won't let me create rescue media

I replaced unreliable IBM R&R v2.00.0170 with new Lenovo R&R v3.10.0030.

Start>Programs>ThinkVantage>Rescue and Recovery>Back up your hard drive>Create a backup to CDs/DVDs
or alternatively: Start>Programs>ThinkVantage>Create Recovery Media>CDs/DVDs
I put a blank CD in the drive, and clicked OK, OK. This error message appeared:

Create Rescue Media: Process failed.
Up to 1.6 GB of temporary hard disk drive space is needed
to create rescue media. Either move or delete files from your
hard disk drive to provide the required space; then, restart
the "Create Rescue Media"procedure.

In fact there is about 16 GB of hard disk space available.

I redownloaded the package and reinstalled it. No luck. Does anyone know what's up and how to work around it? Is there a way to ask Lenovo?
