Clean install - problems installing Soundmax audio driver
Clean install - problems installing Soundmax audio driver
Did a clean install today. Everything went well. I installed the streamlined OEM XP from my i386 folder, updated it and installed the drivers and apps of choice from lenovo.com.
However, when trying to install the audio driver som lenovo I get a caution window saying "HD Audio Bus Driver is missing".
Anyone else tried this?

When doing a fresh install, you should also load the Intel drivers for your model from the Lenovo website. When done, reinstall the audio drivers.

I've tried installing the K888111dk.exe update, which should contain the drivers mentioned - but with no luck. For some reason, system update doesn't see them as installed - and neither do the SoundMAX drivers.

That K888111dk.exe is probably a self-extracting file. You may need to install from the created subdirectory, or update the drivers from Device Manager, pointing to that directory.

It's an installer, and not a driver in it self. Actually I have a hard time figuring out what it really is

What TP model do you have, and where did you get that install-program from?

I took the installer from my old DRIVERS folder which I had backed up. So apparently its installed pr default when using the recovery partition,

Try the latest Audio drivers: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-62855
They may be newer than what you got.
And/or these newer Universal Audio Architecture drivers 888111 for XP SP1 or SP2

I'm running out of ideas, do you need a specific Danish version or could you try the English/US drivers?

I finally got it working!
It seems that this HD Audio bus driver has to be installed with the soundcard device.
Here's what I did.
1.Installed the KB888111da.exe
2. Rebooted
3. Went into the device manager, right clicked the soundcard (no name, just 'PCI-DEVICE'), updated the driver linking to C:\Drivers\Win\Audio\SMAXWDM\W2K_XP. Strangely enough, this doesn't install the audio driver, but it installs the HD audio bus driver instead.
4. Rebooted
5. Installed the SoundMAX audio drivers from IBM (C:\Drivers\Win\Audio\setup.exe)
So now I have sound!
Thanks for your replies!
