380ed: Keyboard and mouse stopped working after cleaning

Call me stupid: By cleaning it (only from the outside), I just damaged a nice old 380ED which has been in service since '98 and which had just been replaced by a new T43.

The problem: The internal keyboard doesn't work at all anymore, and the trackpoint works unreliable (the trackpoint buttons generate random click events and clicking them sometimes doesn't work).

The possible cause: I applied compressed air to remove dust from the keyboard and the fan (only from the outside). Especially when applying compressed air to the fan, AFAIK currents can be induced that may kill components. Also, I applied detergents from spray cans but these are non-water based and dry quickly, and I don't assume that they're the cause.

What I already tried: I reseated the keyboard and trackpoint connectors, after opening the machine (no improvement) and I also tried running the machine with the small connector cable which I assume to be the Trackpoint data cable disconnected (no improvement).

Actually, I don't want to spend much time with the aged machine, but: Perhaps someone has a quick suggestion?

BTW, I just see that someone here in Germany (where I'm located) is selling a keyboard for the 380ED on Ebay. Could be worth a try, if not too expensive.
