Is there such thing as a blank battery?

#1 Post by Thinkpaddict » Sat Mar 31, 2007 8:45 pm

I am more and more getting used to taking the battery out of my T41p when I am using it as a desktop computer. It sort of bugs me to have the battery connectors exposed, and I was wondering if there is such thing as a blank battery (a battery with no battery cells on it.) I know what you're going to say. Why don't you just get a dead battery and take it appart, then reassemble it without the power cells? I've tried to do that, and the results weren't good. Batteries are glued pretty nicely, and after taking one appart it doesn't look pretty.

batteryrefill.com does a nice job of taking batteries apart and refilling them. Perhaps they could send you an empty battery at a reduced cost?

You do not have to disassemble a dead battery. Just nip the plastic where the contacts are located with a small side cutter and even it with a file. Then you would have a neat contactless battery pack as a blank.
