X21 no power just yellow battery light and green sleep light
Has anyone had this problem before? I think I need a board guru on this one. The laptop will not power on period, the battery light whether a battery is installed or not stays steady yellow (when it shouldn't even be on) and the sleep light is on. I've removed every conceivable object from the main board. I have removed the board completely and just have the screen and keyboard attached. Is this this a known issue or am I one of the first? It appears that the board has a short or maybe the processor is fried. I bought a replacement board but I'm wondering if this is kinda/sorta common on the older X20/X21's.

I've found similar threads in this forum on the early X series that where of the exact same issue. To date none of the same/similar described instances where resolved other than to say it is now a door stop. I will look further into the power problem, system short further on my own. Thanks to all who have looked.

answer is absolutly NO.clickpoint wrote:mine does the same thing... i have a x20...
can I just swap out the processor, or do I have to change the entire board?
the CPU is firmly burnt on the mainboard.
even shops could not do this job. so better find a replacement Mobo is much better

wilsonhs is right. The processor is soldered to the board not socketed. If you are getting the same results as I was it is because the processor has been overheated or shorted and caused a board failure. Also if you replace the system board, be sure it will work with your LCD. There are differences and it effects the amount of voltage to the inverter. Wrong board, no backlight!
