Vista Moduslink upgrade spoof email?

#1 Post by omaqsood » Sun Apr 01, 2007 3:52 pm

Hi guys,

New member here. I've owned Thinkpads for years but only recently found this forum!

Anyway, I'm going through the same hassles with Moduslink trying to get the Vista upgrade. However recently I received the following email. Is this for real?

Hi guys,

What I was trying to say is that I received that email from Moduslink asking me to pay for my Vista upgrade by depositing money into the account numbers listed. I think it's a scam as why would Moduslink accept payment via bank deposit even though I provided my credit card details when I placed my order.

I was just wondering if anybody else had received the same email as it looks very genuine. Did everybody pay by card?

This may be a scam I would call the numbers listed and talk to someone in a management position.

It's not a scam, it's a Moduslink screwup. One of many! (many, many many)
Then again many people consider the whole Moduslink boondoggle a scam.

It seems but not sure is a real e-mail but first give a call at moduslink at UTAH state for credit card info is totally correct if not you may think is a scam or did you make sure you enter your info in a secure encrypted page starting "https://" or why dont you can contact at their bank if you can make a payment throught your credit card just click this link and look at this info : http://www.abnamro.com/com/contact/unit ... merica.jsp and refer to moduslink.

look at your bank acct statement if there is a transaction from moduslink they also can help you and tell about your situation!

If your e-mail came with missing US english grammar in the sender field and the rest of the content THAT's for sure is a scam!!

Lenovo says it's legitimate but suggests the customer may wish to use one of the provided numbers to resolve any questions about credit card vs bank draft directly with Modus.
