T43P with faded screen

#1 Post by jonathanmedwards » Mon Apr 02, 2007 12:00 pm

I was complaining in another section about how dim the screen on my T43p is. I just compared it to a (pre-Lenovo) T41p with a much brighter and whiter screen. My T43 looks dim and yellowish in comparison. Is it possible that the screen/bulb is going bad, and that I can get it fixed? Or did Lenovo just switch to cheaper screens?

Dim can be a bad backlight or inverter. If it is under warranty, take it in for service. If it isn't, I always try to replace the inverter first because it is easier and cheaper, but if the color improves after it warms up, it is usually the backlight.

Most of the time the problem is the backlight.

normally what would the services center do?
will they replace a new screen, if tested out non techically related problem?

Just because your screen is dim and doesn't have any issue with its assembly connection. most probably the services center wouldn't change for you.. this is what happen here in Aust & SG

If the video is sub-par, I'll replace it at the cost of shipping... assuming it's under warranty.
