T4x series specific matters only

Are there any T4x series with 1394 firewire?

#1 Post by Brad » Wed Apr 04, 2007 12:31 am

I just delivered an X60 that had firewire but I don't see T4x's with firewire? Am I missing something?

Thanks

As far as I know there are no T4x machines with built in firewire. This can easily be solved through the use of a firewire PCMCIA card however.
New:
Thinkpad T430s 8GB DDR3, 1600x900, 128GB + 250GB SSD's, etc.
Old:
E6520, Precision M4400, D630, Latitude E6520
ThinkPad Tablet 16GB 1838-22U
IBM Thinkpad X61T, T61, T43, X41T, T60, T41P, T42, T410, X301

As far as I know the T4x have firewire build in.
I figured that out when I inserted a live Knoppix CD. It recognized and initialized the firewire port (!!)

Double checked with the R models (which have the very same mainboard, but more space for the housing), and there are models with firewire.

The T4x also has 4 USB ports, and 5.1 channel digital Sony-Philips Audio output.
Unfortunately, there seemed to be no space for any external port.

My T42 has no firewire, only 2 USB ports and no 5.1 SPDIF out. Actually, it's also true for all T4x.

:::

If you want Small & Light ThinkPad like 14" T4x, T6x....
Z60t, Z61t 14" is your friend & have Firewire!
Is 14", not 15" Z6xm, OK!

Check the electronics inside and you will be surprised.
IBM simply did not connect all of it to external ports.

That's why some R-series Thinkpads have Firewire (same mainboard) and some other-brand Centrino notebooks have 4 USB ports.

It is all the same Intel chips anyway.
