AD WARE
AD WARE
After allowing a collegue to use my thinkpad for the evening, she returned it to me with lots of adware.... now i get several pop ups when opening Internet Explorer...
I do not use a firewall (because i honestly dont know what that entials, and i use the preloaded virus software)
Can anyone recomend a good course of action for ad ware removal?
thanks,
C.

Two products, both free.
Ad-Aware SE Personal http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/
Spybot - Search & Destroy http://www.safer-networking.org/en/down ... tant1.html
Run one, then the other. That won't necessarily remove everything. To get rid of what's left, you'll probably need to Google around.
And the best way to stop this from happening again, apart from dismembering your colleague, is to stop using MS IE and get a secure browser http://www.mozilla.org/
