No, don't have the service neither. But it could be something with your WLAN card? What wireless card do you have in your TP?

2200BG..... i installed XP from a CD i created from my i386 directory.. as soon as i got in windows i installed the thinkpad software installer and then chained all my driver installations using it and then reboot, then all the ibm apps using software installer too.

is there an order that you should follow when installing ibm device drivers and ibm applications

I have the same one. You should delete the service from registry and forget about it. And when something stops working reinstall driver for it.

I don't know if there is a specified order to install drivers, but I would start with the driversw for the chipset and power management.

well.. i just rebuilt the machine. so i'm gonna format and reinstall.. and then watch and see what installs the dead service... if it does it again, i'll disable the service and see what happens. better now than 3 months when the laptop is full of crap.
