What is a T20 worth right now?

Specs:
900MHz (factory upgraded from 700MHz)
12Gig
384Meg
CDRW or DVD drive (choice either but not both)
Windows 2000 Pro but no COA
IBM Restore CD, no need for COA

Slight cosmetic issue.

What is that worth? I want to possibly put this up for sale, but I'm not sure what to sell it for. I'd like your honest opinion. Also, is ebay a good idea? I have never sold anything on ebay. It's always made me nervous with the whole giving out of bank info.

I also have a Toshiba Satalite 5005-S504 to part out. It has some serious physical issues with the screen hinge and some keys missing, but still runs on a daily basis. The CDRW/ DVD drive gave up the ghost a few years ago. This is one of those PIII models that was overheating so they released a firmware DOWNGRADE that made the computer super slow. If I could get the original firmware back on it, I'd mod it into a different case with some decent airflow and it would still be useful for a long time.
Anyone with any experience parting out laptops on ebay or elsewhere? Advice? I'd like to pull a couple hundred out of the toshiba. The screen is PERFECT. The MB is crippled because of the firmware, but works as the factory intended (before they lost that lawsuit).

Taking a guess that with the laptop already loaded with an OS and an office suite (good selling points for eBay, but maybe not here), I would say $140-$180 on eBay, slightly less here. The CDRW should bring a higher price than the DVD drive.

Not sure what the bank info problem is for a seller. If you accept PayPal (fairly safe), then all the buyer sees is your email address. If you take a check (a little bit more riskier), then it's possible that your account number will be written/stamped on the back when you cash/deposit it. The buyer then either receives the cancelled check or can view it online with some banks. If you are referring to giving eBay/PayPal your banking information, then that cannot be avoided (as far as I know) and that's where you must rely on them to protect your banking information. I would say it's the same risk, if not more, that you take on when you hand over your credit card to a waiter/waitress at a restaurant and they disappear for several minutes.

I'd say much over $140.

You find perfect-condition 900MHz T22s for about $230. My broken T22 900MHz sold for $140 USD, and it was extremely cheap compared to the other ones I found. It was sold as "space bar not working" and "dark screen"

It turns out I have to replace the keyboard bezel, the keyboard, the CCFL, the inverter, the hinge cover, and the Ultrabay2000 guide rails. It finally cost me just a little under the price of buying it locally and functional (And the place selling it is one of the cheapest around)

By luck, I found a local guy who sold me about every parts cheaper than on eBay without shipping and taxes as well, so this buy isn't too bad.

I sold an 800mhz T21 with a 12gb hard drive for $200 + shipping several months ago. I'm sure you could get a similar price for your 900mhz T20. It has more ram and a faster CPU. However, I included a cdrw and dvd drive with mine but had no OS loaded.

I could include both the DVD and CDRW but I have 2 A31s and one of my CDRW/DVD drives apparently gave up the ghost so I figured I'd keep one of the others to have when that machine eventually leaves.
Currently it's just sitting there waiting for a VRAM solution which may be to just replace the VRAM. I wouldn't sell it unless I could fix it.

Anyway the T20 is in really decent shape. I just see no point in using the A31 and the T20. My wife wants a new computer period. She is not an IBM lover. I think it's the trackpoint more than anything. It took some getting used to, but now I have no desire to buy a computer with a track pad YUCK.
