I have gone back on some old posts and read that some says it can be done, some say they have done it, and other say it cant be done.
I have a T20 motherbaord that is clocked for a 700MHZ cpu. I know a 900mhz cpu will still only run at 700Mhz (I tried it). I have flashed the bios to the latest version from IBM.
Some people say the SL53S, 1.0 Ghz cpu will run on any motherboard at 1 Ghz.
Before I spend the $$$ can someone tell me for sure that it will work, or what mods may need to be done to do it.

UPGRADE A t20 700mHZ TO 1gHZ?
There is another thread that addresses upgrading a T21 to 1 GHz that is full of information. You said that your motherboard ran the 900 MHz chip at 700 MHz. My guess is that your motherboard will not support the 1 GHz chip based on skou's post: "some T20-22 mobos only support up to an 800 CPU, and the rest will support the 1000MHz. Since your board is running the 850, it will run the 1000. (Is it running the 850 at 850? If not, it won't run the 1000.)" But this is simply based on what I have read on this board, not based on my knowledge of the T2x series laptops. Others can provide more information.
