Have a question about setting up a wireless link with my t42

#1 Post by Vasant56 » Wed Sep 29, 2004 3:14 pm

The room I'm in now isn't wifi enabled, although most of the campus, and my laptop is. Is there any cheap device I can use to connect to the cat5 jack and give me a wifi signal? I know there are routers that do this, but I don't need a router, nor anything expensive. Everything I've seen gives me the option to hook a device to my comp to make it wireless, but I need something that does the opposite.

Thanks

Don't quite understand your question? The room you're in has a cat5 outlet? If so, a wireless router/access point is what you need. You can get a B router for $20, or a G router for $40. Or a cat 5 cable for $3.

Yep, you need a wireless router. You plug the Cat-5 cable into it and you'll have a wireless signal in your room.
