using external monitor, can i close laptop?

#1 Post by sb37 » Thu Apr 05, 2007 9:17 pm

Hi -- I'm trying to connect my computer to an external monitor via the VGA port (no dock), but when I shut the lid of my t60p, both monitors go out. Any idea how i can shut off the panel on my thinkpad while leaving the other monitor going?

thanks!

i noticed when I set my display settings to a mode where only the external screen is being used (thus, external is primary), then closing the lid does not affect the external display. But when using both the lcd and external (where one is an extended desktop), closing the lid causes the external to go blank. I have tried messing with the power settings, etc...but to no avail, so I've just been using the former settins when connecting to my hdtv.

anyone got any other ideas...?
