Should I buy the X60T now? And with what options?

I'm going to get the X60T, that's for certain. But, what about the processor and the screen... It's obvious from Lenovo's online blip (04/04/2007) that the C2Ds are not far from being shipped (or at least posted online for sale). But, with a step down in clock speed, a step up in L2 cache, will it be worth the wait? I do a lot of CAD and programming, but I"m not sure if the C2D 64-bit architecture will improve performance given the drop to 1.5 GHz. Any suggestions?

Secondly, anyone help me in the screen department would be great. I don't care about the multi-touch, but I want to be able to see my tablet clearly if I'm taking notes at a lecture or in a room with fluorescent lights. How is the viewing angle on the Multi-view tablets? Just as good as the Multi-view under indoor conditions?

Finally, although computer sales are always going on, will the low-end price of the X60T bump back up to 2K?

Any advice it welcomed advice.

If you do programming, you should consider the SXGA Panel, which is not available with Multitouch feature. but make sure you are okay with the little fonts.

I can't speak for the SXGA+ panels in the X60s, but every ThinkPad I've owned, you've been able to change the resolution on the internal LCD panel as you see fit. However, as you're not running at the LCD's native resolution the BIOS gives you two compromises;

1. screen expansion: the lower resolution screen area will expand to take up the whole screen space, at the expense of screen crispness. Things will look a bit blurry as they are slightly magnified.

2. no expansion: the display will be crisp, but there will be a black boarder around the screen. (the text etc. won't actually be any bigger)

If you plan on doing that, make sure you get Windows Vista rather than XP. With XP, the screen looks fuzzy at non-native resolutions, but Vista prevents this from happening.
