#1 Post by lintzuchieh » Fri Apr 06, 2007 12:09 am

hey guys, sometimes when im working on my computer and i don't know what keys i pressed. when i browse any website, it automatically scrolls down to the bottom of the page
so i can't view anything on the top. even if i try to scroll back to the top, it goes down immediately.
note that my left SHIFT became backspace...

i have to restart my computer everytime this occurs... is there an special key i can press to fix this? i don't know what i did to it lol..

I have this problem on my T60 occasionally and solve it by hitting the "Esc" key.

This is driving me nuts too. I've found that sliding my finger across the trackpad fixes it - for a while.

Looks like it affects you guys more frequently than it affects me. My hunch is that it's caused by interference between the trackpoint and the touchpad. See if disabling one of them prevents the problem from occurring again.

I suspect it's a Windows glitch as I've suffered the same behavior on atleast two other non Lenovo systems.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.

Okay, this just happened to me again when I was surfing this forum with my external mouse. It was slightly different in that it was automatically scrolling to the right instead of to the bottom, but it's probably caused by the same glitch. The ESC key didn't work this time -- I don't know why it doesn't always work -- and I fixed the problem by moving the mouse pointer to the horizontal bar and clicking the touchpad's left mouse button.

So, the next time this happens to you, try clicking a different mouse button than the one you've been using, e.g. if you've been using the touchpad right before this automatic scrolling happens, press the trackpoint's left mouse button while the pointer is on the malfunctioning scroll bar. Or vice versa.

The touchpad has automatic action zones that sometimes go haywire, or that you may be triggering without realizing it.
