T42 with Vista and a CPU that peaks all the time

#1 Post by sonson » Fri Apr 06, 2007 3:30 am

Hi fellow Thinkpads :)

I've just made a clean installation of Vista Business on my T42 (model: 2373 F3G) - and it went rather smoothly, however the only problem, that I've got, is that the CPU peaks all the time :(. I've try to swith off the transparent windows in Vista and ajust other grafical things without any succesfull effect to the CPU performance.

My T42 is running with 1,5 GB Ram, 1,8GHz processor and all new drivers.

Any one got a explanation and a solution to my challenge ? If not, I'll downgrade to XP :(

My only suggestion is do another clean install and leave out the thinkpad drivers, see how vista runs. Then possibly start loading only what you absolutely need.

Sure it isn't just defrag or search indexing running as it's a new install?

You can see using the Resource Monitor under Task Manager/Performance.
