Does anybody know draft 802.11n mini pci card that fits on T43p?

They're Atheros based, so far only in Mini-PCI.
Check if your TP needs mini-PCI or Mini-PCI-Express before you buy.

Their SparkLAN WMIA-215GN WLAN Adapter is NOT Atheros based, even though the url you gave says so.

If you click it, you will see that it`s a RALINK Chipset.

Only the WMIA-207GN WLAN and WMIA-199N WLAN are Atheros based.

thanks for the reply.

I know T43p has mini pci slot, not mini pci express.

My next question is that both WMIA-207GN WLAN and WMIA-199N WLAN will work on T43p without "1802 error"?

Any idea?
Did anybody try that without 1802 error?

The 1802 error can be fixed easily. You may get a 01C9 error though, which can be bypassed at boot by pressing Esc.
This is based on my own experiences in a T23 and a T30. Don't know if the same applies to a T4x as well.

Pretty sure any card that doesn't say "IBM" on it will get an error. If you want 11n you have to use the no1802 hack.

Yes, I agree, this is a given regarding all the other issues with the newer Atheros 5005 chipset. I wanted to see if anyone here has tried the newer cards from Realtec. As everyone has already contributed to the other Atheros thread entensively, I have not seen too much activity regarding these newer Realtec cards so it will be interesting to see if anyone has tried this newer card on the older IBM platforms.

I am thinking of purchasing the Realtec and bite the bullet and try one. If it does not work as well as I anticipate or does not at all, I will notify everyone here and I will move it to another laptop.

Has anyone else tried the newer Realtec 802.11n mini-pci card?

Any mini pci will work with the no1802 hack, including the Ralink card. And the Atheros N cards will require the hack as well.

And the Ralink already has lack of 11a support going against it. So the only thing left to know is reception quality.

(BTW, what have people been doing in regards to the third antenna socket on these N cards?)

What are they doing with the third connection? This was another item that would need to be worked out yet. I kept seeing this in the photos as well as in the specifications on the Ralink and newer Atheros.

I wrote about the reception issues just now in the T2x forum regarding the t23. I am thinking the 40 will be a better platform to work through the 802.11n issues due to the construction of the LCD shell and addressing the 3rd connector issue.

I am just lucky we have a surplus of older platforms at work to experiment with. We have been buying the r60 and r61 and x60 platforms. There are plenty of t30, t2x, and some 40's and 42's laying around. These will be sent to our investment recovery for resale soon.

Wait a minute. Something is wrong with this discussion. The no-1802 patch/hack does not work on T43 and later machines. The original post said T43p.

Oh. Nice save. There isn't any other way to get non-IBM cards on a T43, is there?

Hi everyone...

Yeah, sorry for going slightly off topic and mentioning a t23 (ack)

The T43's are still in production at our workplace and we will not be sending them to investment recovery for some time. (But soon!)
When that happens they will be up for sale internally. Great platform and processor/video...

Has anyone tried any other card other than the Atheros?

It's the idchanger hack in Linux. Of course, for an N card you might end up with problems trying to get the driver to work when you change the pciid.

I have a short antenna lying around that I was simply going to plug into this third socket and leave lying under the keyboard. Dunno how effective that would be...
