Upgrading from a IBM T40 to T41P

#1 Post by TheLaptopGuy » Wed Sep 29, 2004 9:20 pm

Hello,

I'm recieving a T41P in a day or so. I currently use a IBM T40 and was wondering if I pull out the HD from my T40 and put it in the T41p whether all should work smoothly? I checked the Driver Matrix and all the drivers are the same. The only problem may be the Windows XP license key that I have to chance? Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks

Todd

i would think it would work. I've moved drives around to and from various models of ThinkPads for years. It may take some tinkering, but it can probably be done.

Generally, the only changes between T40/T41/T42 are the Bluetooth/Modem/Audio daughtercard and the type of WiFi adapter you have.

I recently put an R50p drive into a T42p, and I had to update the items above.

The IBM Preloads will work, in terms of a Windows license, so long as it's on a ThinkPad. At least for T40/T41/T42...
