HELP: Thinkpad A31 Critical Low Battery Error

#1 Post by robdls14 » Sat Apr 07, 2007 3:54 pm

I have a Thinkpad A31 it was fully working one day and the next it won 't boot up. Here's the details of what's happening:

-- When the battery is connected and the power button is pressed nothing happens.

-- When the battery is disconnected and external power only the IBM boot screen will come up and then eventually this comes up 0190: Critical low-battery error

I have tried replacing the CMOS battery myself and no luck. I was told that someone has tried replacing the IBM laptop battery and that did not fix the problem. I would appreciate any ideas.

Thanks

Rob

I also have the same problem and I found quite few others online who had the same problem too. There was nowhere though a solution posted.
I hope somebody from this site can help us.

I'm guessing it's a bad motherboard. There isn't much else it could be.

Apologies for being the pessimist for the day, but I've seen this twice, not on my machines thankfully, and both times it has been a case of a bad motherboard.
