T43p, 2687 to 120 GB internal HD

#1 Post by INVISO » Sat Apr 07, 2007 4:21 pm

I would like to upgrade a T43p, 2687 to 120 GB internal HD, Bios 1.22, EC1.03

I have searched messages extensively on this board and I have not found any that indicate installing an internal HD of greater than 100GB without the 2010 error.

Drive Solutions Inc, at <http://www.drivesolutions.com > list a
120.0 GB 5400 RPM Drive for Thinkpad-T43p –2687, Drive in Caddy for $105. Has anyone had experience with this product? If it works out of the box hassle free, it seems like a good solution at a decent price.

Just to be safe..

Email the seller and ask him for compatability, and also for the return policy in case you run into trouble. :)

With regard to Drive Solutions, Inc. 120GB for T43p. I took cmarti's advice and sent an email to the supplier.

Here is the reply:
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
"If you get a drive from us it will give you a 2010 ERROR message.

To be sure to get a drive that will not produce the annoying error message.
You will need to get a drive from IBM/Lenovo.
Since IBM merged with Lenovo. They have now made it so you have to buy replacement drives from them.

I am sorry.

Thank you,
