R40 - Thermal Sensing Error

#1 Post by l31itz » Wed Sep 29, 2004 11:16 pm

Hi Everyone,

I just joined the forums with my new R40 2722CTO. I got this sucker as a "recertified" unit off eBay. I'm pretty happy with it except that it has one annoying problem. Maybe you guys can help?

When you power on it always beeps after the IBM logo and the screen goes blanks and says " Thermal Sensing Error ". Then it shuts off and I have to push the power button again to turn it on.

The Embedded Controller Program shows that updates have been released to resolve this issue. However, even with the newest update it STILL does this. Very annoying.

Is this a serious error? My laptop works fine after I power it on a second time.

Thanks,

Robert
