Restore to factory contents...Problem

#1 Post by yahoo27 » Thu Sep 30, 2004 1:29 am

I was trying to restore the factory contents on my 2378fvu thinkpad and now when I try to boot it always goes into Rescue and Recovery. I'm I doing something wrong.

First I created recovery cd's through Access IBM in windows. Then I restarted with the startup cd in the drive. Resuce and Recovery started up and I clicked restore to factory content and then it asked me to insert the other 6 cds and I did. After it said the process was complete it restarted me back into Rescue and Recovery and I can't get anywhere else. Is there something I am doing wrong?

Please help...can't do anything without this machine.

Just be patient and let it run a second time.

BTW, you (normally) don't need the recovery CDs to restore the factory content.

I guess you should run the Rescue&Recovery for the second time. When you inserted all the disks, it created from them the hidden partition. Then you boot to R&R and there you can create your primary partiotion with the operating system.

I think you need the recovery discs only when you don;t have the recovery partition on your disk (e.g. when you replace our disk or delete it)

I had that problem too. When it boots back up it looks like it's the same thing all over again, but it really isn't. Just let it run.
