Random power OFF

#1 Post by ibmexpert » Sun Apr 08, 2007 10:13 pm

My Z60t is worst experience I ever had with an IBM laptop. Bought last year in Feb with One year warranty. Battery started giving error "Inrepairable battery replace with new one" after that CDRW keep popping out by itself. Power socket got little loose and when this was fix this feb end and when I got laptop back I got a new bigger problem aptop keeps turning off by itself. You loose all data and I think the harddrive will die soon if this keeps happening.

IBM denies to repair this problem which showed up after receiving laptop on Feb 28th as it went out of warranty around that time.

Any suggest solution to this random power issue. It happens both when used with battery as well as Wall power.

Check your CPU temperature with Mobile Meter or so. The Z series is known for some overheating problems which results in random shutdowns. I had the same with another laptop some time ago and it killed one HD.

I have my Z60m now under control with NHC and some Arctic Silver thermal paste on the heatsink.
Thinkpad Z60m and happy with it
