Palmrest w/o Touchpad
Does anybody know if this part (FRU# 91P8399) comes with the (more than four) screws that are required to install it since one has to remove both the keyboard and the old palmrest?

Just looked at:
http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.ws ... MIGR-46474
Does the palm rest you are referring to work on a 15" T42, or just the 14"? It is difficult to tell from the above URL. In fact, the page says the part is a "palmrest with touchpad", when we know it is not.

So this thing would "remove" the glidpad completely, and just leave you with the Trackpoint? I would love to do that on my T30, guess I'll have to buy a T42p!
I have the glidepad disabled, but would love to see it out of there!

Thanks, it says it's not customer-replaceable. Does that mean if I install it myself that I void the warranty?
Another question: I am sending my T30 in for service, can I have them install this part (I would pay for it) and then not have a warranty issue?
Thanks, kj

The stickers on my palm rest were getting kinda messy so I decided to order a plain palmrets from IBM. I was able to order from IBM online for around $10+shipping. (still rediculously expensive shipping though.) I'll try to find the page tonight and post again.
The palmrest doesn't come with any screws so you have to reuse your screws from the old palmrest. It's a non customer replaceable in the machine with mini PCI wireless. (Well I know every TP has mini PCI wireless but that's what it says.) The special screws are T-7 screws. But I was able to use one of the small flat head 'precision' screwdrivers to get them out without any damage to the screw heads. YMMV The installation is quite easy. There is a video from IBM support site that teaches you how to do it.
You still have the trackpoint functional. The plain palm rest is very sturdy compared to the one with touchpad. I've been very happy with it so far.
