My friend tried one on his 4:3 15" toshiba and it looked pretty good, though it made the display a tad dim (not noticeable until you specifically look for it). But then the important part was that the film had a matte finish that does NOT reflect like the glossy ones.
Below are the details if anyone is interested:
Name: 3M Vikuiti film
Model: ARMR-200

The only problem was getting the protector to stick without air "bubbles" between the film and the LCD. - to credit 3M, they sent us an applicator (a plastic card like thing) to ease out the air from bubbles. The film is resusable and sticks by static, no adhsives or anything. It is actually easier to install than the Nushields (no messy pushing under the bezel, it is cut to exact dimensions).
These films are NOT for retail sale.
I learnt from talking to one of the techs at 3M Vikuiti actually makes some of the components of LCD displays (some internal layers inserted behind the LCD panel) for many LCD manufacturers.
Someone with a lot of experience using thinkpads - like Bill/Ray/GomJabbar/archer6 can order a sample and try it on. If you guys like it, we can get them in bulk and distribute
