Thinkpad T41p FireGL clockspeed

#1 Post by ZirePhoenix » Mon Apr 09, 2007 1:42 pm

Hello guys. For your own T41p laptop, what clockspeed ATITool 0.26 reads for your T41p FireGL T2?

I'm using Notebook Hardware Control, and it says "ATI Core 317.25 Mhz, ATI Memory 202.50", but with ATi Tool, it has a core of only 90.59 and 57.83.

The FPS is also about 15 frames worse than I last ran ATI Tool for quick tested (dropped from low 50s to 35).

I wonder if it is a driver issue or worse, a hardware issue.

on my t42p with the same firegl, the clocks are correctly reported in ATItool

are you sure you have chosen the "old" way to detect the clockspeeds? the omega drivers ask you that during installation, and it is NOT pre-chosen as standard. you have to change the setting during install of the drivers.

then it all works nicely

Is it the drivers found at http://www.omegadrivers.net?

Version 3.8.33 doesn't seem to say anything about clock speed detection at startup.

I don't think I was using Omega drivers to begin with.

I also find it strange that when I raise the clockspeed via ATiTool, the smallest increments creates a lot of artifacts, and usually crashes.

Also, when I change the clock speed with Notebook Hardware Control, ATi Tool speeds actually change.
