amex discount

hello and thanks to everyone, i am new here and is soaking in all the information that are available.
anybody else notice that the 15% discount for amex cardmember has a much higher base price than from lenovo direct? i just did a comparo and find that the exact same specs for a t60 with the 15% off is only about $85 lower than if i go through lenovo.com direct.

Never believe the "normal price" or the "reference price" cited in those kinds of promotions. It is often inflated to make the deal look better than it is.
