System Update 3.0 Unable to connect to Proxy Server.

#1 Post by Casper118 » Mon Apr 09, 2007 10:15 pm

Good Evening,

After chatting with a client tonight. I have discovered a fix for this issue. When you go to LAN Connections settings in IE. Which is under Tools and Options. You will notice that it has something filled in and it can not be removed.

There is now a fix.

Uninstall Google's web accelerator this is adding the proxy information into the LAN Connections. When you remove this software. This resolves this issue.

After uninstalling. Change it to Automatically detect in LAN Connections for resolution.

This was the key. I don't know how many places I had to look including speaking with Lenovo.....

I just uninstalled the google accelerator (which I had forgotten I had installed late one evening...) (and which made no noticeable improvements) and then ran Sys Update without any tweaks.

thanks so much for the fix!

You can just close it by using the system tray icon. No need to uninstall it, but it does cause other problems when using it. You can disable it in the same way when you encounter those other problems.
