thinkpad r32 power problem

My thinkpad R32 2658-N3U got a strange power related problem. When I plug in the AC adapter, the notebook started automatically and then shut down after less than 1 minuit. If the battery is in position, then when AC adapter is plugged, it started but won't boot up, after pressing power button to shut down and use power button to start, the notebook booted up with the battery and won't boot up without the battery. I think there are power leakages, and maybe it is a problem with mother board, any one has similar experiene and any suggestions?

Usually, I've found that strange power issues like that are almost always the motherboard.
