fatal error in winlogon.exe

#1 Post by gpvillamil » Tue Apr 10, 2007 2:37 pm

I am getting this very alarming error:

winlogon.exe has encountered a fatal error and must be closed.

Additional info on the error yields this:

szAppName : winlogon.exe szAppVer : 0.0.0.0 szModName : infra.dll
szModVer : 5.6.0.3297 offset : 00001374

The reason why this is alarming is that it takes place *after* I lock the computer, so I can't then log back in again!

What could this be, and how can I fix it?

Did you do a virus scan?

infra.dll is part of the Fingerprint Reader software. Maybe you could unistall it and see if that helps.
