A variety of X60 questions...
I just got my X60 today and so far it's wonderful. I have a few questions though:
1.) I have the fingerprint recognition setup but even when I log in with my print, Windows still wants my password. How can I stop this from happening?
2.) Is the drive partitioned? Where does the backup go that I make with ThinkVantage?
3.) Why will the computer not let me delete files from program files? It doesn't even want to show me what is in the C drive unless I click show me anyway. Then I can't delete items....
4.) Where can I get a really good external DVD burner that runs off of USB power? I don't know if the X6 and ultraburner thing is the way to go...opinions?
More questions to come...thanks!

1. The second swipe after windows loads is for Client Security Solution (CSS). If you dont need it, you can uninstall it - the fingerprint reader can work without it, and you'll speedup the booting time.
2. The drive is not partitioned when it comes from the factory. AFAIK, the backup is stored on a folder you specify.
3. Are you logged in as administrator?
4. Lenovo sells one - goes by the name "Lenovo USB 2.0 Super Multi-Burner Drive with LightScribe". From the lenovo site:

It is expensive ($250) though.Does not require power adapter for normal operation, when connected directly to a USB 2.0 port on supported computers such as the ThinkPad X40/X41, X Series Tablet, and X60 Series notebooks

What will uninstalling this CSS do? I don't want to uninstall something I might need one day. How can I stop Windows from asking me my password?gator wrote:1. CSS is a thinkvantage utility that integrates various aspects of securing data on your laptop. Security is provided at many levels, ranging from encrypting your harddisk, creating a secure volume to store your sensitive data, integrating the fingerprint reader with browser, a central password manger etc etc. There are many features and you should read the help file on your system for more details.
While it is a decent piece of s/w, IMHO it is more useful for corporate users than normal users. It increases your boot time, and does slow down your system a bit (as it will run in the background) and if you are not careful using it, you can lock up data and it is difficult to recover it. It is upto you to decide to retain or uninstall it.
AFAIK, There is no way to make the second fingerprint authentication short of either making CSS not start at bootup (which defeats its purpose; it will ask for a swipe even if you start it later) or uninstalling it.
